A client wanted to have custom lakefront driveway gates created for both entrances to his home. The goal was to add both security and beauty to his home.

The driveway gates were to be 8ft tall at the sides and arch to 9’6” high at the center. Each gate was 8ft wide and then there was an 8ft tall pedestrian gate to one side of an entrance.

The driveway gate hinge post was inspired from an 1861 old English gate design. The hinge post base was 7” sq. and trim detail where it downsized to 6” sq. It also has fluted corners and rosettes to really look authentic to the old English style. We custom cast the post top  for an excellent crowning effect.

The gate design had a bell curve, pickets that were 1” sq solid aluminum, topped with a marine grade finial. Every other picket had a beautiful, twisted basket in the center. All the pickets had a base detail. The bottom of the gate had a solid plate with a raised panel and rivets.

The center of the two gates had a large radius with the clients initials.

We sandblasted, primed and finished with a black powder-coat the entire driveway gate project for a durable finish. This installation was close to a lake, therefore the project would undergo harsher environmental elements. The finish we put on this project gives it the robust finish needed to withstand the environment it is in.

We gave certain design elements a custom gold highlight to enhance the visual impact of the overall driveway gate. We utilized heavy duty driveway gate hinges  for minimal maintenance hassle. The gate operators used were an inground model for the best aesthetics possible. The gate automation was programmed onto the clients phone, so that they can open and close the gates from anywhere in the world that they have cell service.

A balcony railing provided excellent design continuity for the house and safety for balcony goers. So, these ironwork projects ultimately enhanced the safety, privacy and beauty of this lakefront home.

As the owner of an exclusive property, we were looking for custom ironworks replicated from England in the 1860s. The photo we had was sketchy, but these passionate craftsmen knew their business, knew the details of this ancient craft and provided tips on adding authenticity. They provided excellent communication throughout the creativity and design process, then with superb, detailed craftsmanship, they created and installed an exceptional piece of ironwork that is rich in detail, authentic, yet is engineered to withstand use for decades, utilizing 100% recycled material and an eco-friendly durable finish.

We had a railing, designed, created, and installed by Compass Ironworks. Amos and Aaron were extremely professional. They kept us informed of how things were progressing. We even visited the shop when the railing was almost complete. We HIGHLY recommend Compass Ironworks! We have had several people knock on our door to ask about who made our beautiful railing. Thank you for your hard work!

We had a rather unusual design for our front railings, but the folks at Compass Ironworks took it in stride, figured out how to make it and delivered EXACTLY what we were hoping for — all at a reasonable price. Plus they’re just plain nice to deal with.
