Custom Iron Railing Foyer Design
A New Jersey architect was designing a beach front home in Delaware, and the homeowners desired to have a custom iron railing to enhance the entry foyer in their exceptional home.
The main foyer, with its open layout, presented a curved stair that scaled two stories. Its prominent location in the home, in addition to its shear mass, made it an absolute requirement to get the design perfect.
With our desire to bring the absolute best design to our clients, we had extensive dialog with the architect, homeowners, and craftsman. The goal: “How do we bring the high sense of elegance and character necessary to tie in with the rest of the home?”
Certain railing design elements were modelled after Samuel Yellin, with hammered corners and twisted scroll ends. The pickets had a forged medallion that was custom created to further enhance the foyer railing design. The railing scrolls were completed with hand forged scroll roll-ups.
Due to all the dialogue done proactively on the railing design, actual shop drawings and approval were straight forward, allowing us to do the forging and creation of the iron railing quite effectively. This efficiency added a great deal of cost savings to an already budget conscious customer.
And when everything was installed, the New Jersey architect and Delaware clients were thrilled! The iron railing design had the perfect level of elegance and character for their space to enhance design. The design that they can now enjoy for decades to come.
