Front Entryway Redo
A client in New Jersey contacted us to provide a front entryway redo. They wanted to put a new custom aluminum railing on the front steps and landing to their home. Also, they wanted to install a new posts for the front porch overhang. They also requested a new mailbox to be created in the exact same color as the railing and posts.
In the initial design phase, they inquired about having the exterior step railing design built to the latest contemporary design trend. So, the caprail for the ornamental entry-way railing was designated as 2” X 1” rectilinear, with 1 ½” X ½” bar channel at the top and bottom. It also had 5/8” solid aircraft grade aluminum pickets. The posts were 3” square. The support posts for the front porch were to be 6” X 6” to provide elegance, and structural support at the same time. This also allowed the railing and posts to be proportional to each other.
With that, the process began! We started with a trip this New Jersey home to take on-site measurements. We then entered these precise measurements into CAD. Our expert railing designer laid out the details of how the new railing would interact with the posts, steps and the landing.
Then, we sent these drawings to the client for approval. Once the clients signed off on the design, actual production began. Once we fabricated the project, we sand-blast it. We do this to completely remove all dirt, oil, and any residue from the manufacturing process. It also creates a physical etch profile to allow better adhesion capabilities for the powder-coat finish. Then we washed the project with a 3-stage method. step 1 is a phosphate wash. Step 2 is a clean rinse. Finally, step 3 is seal. Then, we applied a statuary bronze powder-coat. We transported the entire project to the job site and installed it flawlessly.
The client was thrilled by the beauty their front entryway now showcases. The new railings, mailbox and porch posts add to this upscale home to now be enjoyed for many years to come.
