A client was building an exceptional New Jersey shore home in a cutting edge, modern design. This modern home had a pool. Not just any pool, but one designed to protrude out into the Bay itself. Per code, if you have a pool, then you need a pool fence for safety reasons. So, we created them a stunning pool fence!
We collaborated with the client on the pool fence design, and suggested a horizontal/louver, modern pool fence. This design complemented the balcony railing and bulkhead railings that we also created for this client. We suggested the louver be at approximately a 60-degree angle to provide privacy screening for the client.
A challenge we faced during this project was that there was uneven terrain in the pool fence area. We had to mount the fence on top of retaining walls in some areas adding a layer of difficulty to this project. In addition to the fence, egress pool gates and pool-compliant gates the client needed to satisfy a city easement.
The swimming pool fence post structure was created from 4”X4” aluminum I-beam posts. Then the pool fence panels had a 1”X3” aluminum tubing upright that was then slid inside the 4”x4” I-beam post. These pool fence posts had mechanical fasteners that were epoxied into the masonry wall for rigidity. The pool fence posts of all grade levels were concreted into a 16” DIA X 36” deep concrete foundation.
In order to not block the phenomenal view, we placed the louvers vertically to provide minimal view disruption in certain areas. This added a layer of uniqueness to this fence design.
Over all, the new pool fence complements this New Jersey shore home’s modern architecture. It also provides safety and beauty unlike any other product available, and will be an asset for this modern home for years to come.
