The Compass Process
We find “Communication is Key” when it comes to successfully creating your masterpiece. Therefore, we have created a map of how we approach each project that we have the privilege of taking on.

Today, wrought iron is enjoying a resurgence in popularity everywhere; especially in the residential market. Expertise
Materials & Finishes
Compass Ironworks serves the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond, including waterfront areas subject to harsh elements. Our emphasis is on quality, service, and sustainability, creating timeless and stunning metal masterpieces for estate security gates, high-end interior and exterior railings, property security fences, and designer spiral, helical, and “floating” staircases.

Materials
Iron & Steel
Compass Ironworks is a leader in the ornamental ironwork industry. We developed a process to create “wrought” material by taking today’s iron or A-36 steel and forging and hammering it with our 100 yr old power hammer. This process recreates the same visual texture on the surface and irregular and inconsistent edges of wrought iron. This material is also eco-friendly as it’s created from 97% recycled content.
Finishes
A Wide Selection
We, like our some of our competitors, have been creating beautiful ironwork for our clients for many years. It is a standard that most in our industry recognize as valuable. However, what good is finely executed craftsmanship if it’s not made to last?
Compass takes finishes seriously — whether it’s a mirror finish on a stainless handrail, antique tarnish on a bronze handrail, a traditional blackening with a renaissance wax finish on a wrought iron railing, or a powder-coated railing at the shore; we are dedicated to doing it right! Our work is given the best possible finish to withstand the elements and provide the best value for our client. The last thing we want is for clients to perform continual upkeep to fight back the corrosion which is destroying their beautiful ironwork.
